It almost feels quaint that as HR professionals our biggest concern used to be figuring out how to get managers to share honest feedback and conduct talent reviews free of politics.
Don’t get me wrong. I love a good 9-Box session. But the issues employees and leaders face today are so existential, so new and so unrelentingly fast paced that the global workforce is burned out and exhausted. If that fatigue and uncertainty isn’t addressed, none of the HR and culture building programs matter. HR urgently needs to rethink how we approach our work.
People are struggling and we can’t expect them to leave their stress or worry at the door when they walk into work. Employee engagement is at an all-time low, and research consistently shows that mindset matters. In fact, studies have shown that people with a positive mindset are 31% more productive, and that optimists outsell their pessimistic peers by 37%.
